I have been questioning everything lately and have learned to read my bible. And this issue is one that troubles me. You are right about one thing, the Lord has no issues with us using the word father, each of us having a biological father. Am no theologian and doubt that one need that ability to understand that passage of the Bible. You say that priest are called father because of their spiritual fatherhood. In Matthew 23, The Lord is indeed talking about that, asking not to consider anyone other than God his spiritual father, doubling down, he stated this " YOU ARE ALL BROTHER'S". Matthew 23 speaks of church leaders' inclination to hold themselves in high undue regards. Whats troubling me is that, that's what seem to be going on here, and noone seem to notice it.

God bless you Fr. Kirby. I was meant to hear this message. I lost my beautiful wife more than 2 years ago. Besides being my soulmate, she was my best friend. We were only together a relatively short time compared to long marriages but I never felt more confident or safe than when we were together. I know that this time of my life was a blessing from almighty God.
